One Shirt, Two Ways

One piece everyone should own is a chambray shirt, the possibilities are endless. You can make it either casual or dressy depending on the way you style it. 

Shirt: Banana Republic 

Below you can see in the first outfit that I paired it with a pair of green slacks and a statement necklace. I added a leopard smoking loafer to add some more interest to the outfit with pattern.

In the second outfit I paired the same chambray shirt with a waxed black skirt and heels. I added a skinny black belt with a gold chain detail to finish off the outfit details.

Today I kept my color pallet simple with basic black and white. What kept my outfit interesting is the mix of patterns. One great detail I love about this top is the small cutouts.

Today in keeping with my "wear your summer stuff while you can" theme , I wore this cotton flowered dress with fun ruffled sleeves. I also wore my fringe booties and topped it off with this wide brimmed hat. Have fun with your outfits. Don't take yourself so seriously :P

I'm already itching to switch to my fall outfits even though it is still a hundred degrees outside. I resisted the urge and decided to squeeze every last bit out of my summer staples. Fall will be here soon enough, why rush it.

Transitioning temperatures

I'm still enjoying this sunshine and warm weather. Sometimes it is hard to find a appropriate outfit for the temperature outside then the temperature inside. It is best to find a top you can layer. Keep it sleeveless outside then throw on a cardigan inside for cooler temperatures. Wearing pants is also helpful when transitioning temperatures.

Casual Friday

Wearing jeans to work is awesome! But one thing to remember on casual Friday is to not go to casual. A great way to dress up a pair of jeans is to add a blouse with a nice fabric to off set the denim. And remember, darker jeans always look more dressy. TGIF

Sunny Outlook

You may notice my new accessory, these fancy new glasses. Well I kinda recently discovered I actually needed them but at least they are cute. Today I popped a pair of green slacks with a black and white top, but the real show stopper was this necklace. I always make sure to add something of visual interest to push the outfit over the edge.

Taking a break

I start a new job on Monday so this week I'm spending some personal time to clean the house and go to appointments, doctor, dentist etc. I will be back to posting my outfits on Monday! See you then :)

Work Wear

Today, at work, I wore a cute flowy summer cami and added a blazer. You can get twice the wear out of your cami by switching them from casual to work appropriate by adding a third piece. Your third piece can either be a blazer or a cardigan based on the degree of dressiness of your work place. To me, a blazer always looks the most put together.

Scribble Skirt

Today I wore this midi length scribble skirt with a basic black fitted shirt. I'm loving the midi skirt right now and so are all the magazines. It is a nice change from all the bandage skirts and body con dresses. I accessorized with a thick black belt and gold jewelry.

Menswear Twist

Today I wore my double breasted menswear inspired BCBG Generation skirt and I paired it with a sheer oversized shirt. I love this skirt because you can dress it up or dress it down. Pair it with a t-shirt for a more casual look.
